BREAKING NEWS! Island Lake Resident Told to Turn Himself In...

BREAKING NEWS!

Greg Kachka of Island Lake was told by Island Lake police to turn himself in to the police department or he would be arrested by police. Why? I've gotten word it is due to Misconduct during a Board Meeting in late March. I carefully reviewed the video of that meeting and did not see any misconduct by Greg Kachka. More notable was the lack of a "threatened" look by ANY BOARD members. The facial expressions and body language by the Board members signaled nothing was unusual. And even more notable is the timeline. This incident of misconduct occured on March 13. Today is April 28—it takes the VOIL over a month to compile a case of misconduct against a resident attending a village Board meeting? Why over a month later? Because, in my opinion, you can't go against some people on the Board and even some employees, remember, my opinion or you will face consequences called the Village of Island Lake. Dirty politics, dirty games.

We live in America, and according to my sources (unable to reach Greg at this time) a veteran, a resident, is being arrested for alleged misconduct in a Board meeting...what? he asked questions? He wasn't afraid. He stood up for himself? Is this a tactic to scare the people of Island Lake away? Scare them off this blog? Does the VOIL realize this conduct makes them look petty, scared, malicious and incredible?

Watch the video on http://www.cbgil.com/ and decide for yourself. Greg, the people are behind you!

This involves the T-shirt Greg was wearing while attending the village board meeting. A T-shirt for God's sake. An anonymous board member found this T-shirt intimidating. Apparently board members are able to file complaints against the residents. There was no police presence at that meeting. The next morning, the VOIL PD sent two (2) officers to Greg's house without a warrant to conduct an investigation into the T-shirt. Greg invited the officers into his home and they questioned him and asked if he had any guns. ALL THIS FOR A T-SHIRT.

Greg filed a FOIA requesting a copy of HIS police report. The request was denied. Greg appealed the denial. Tom Hyde denied the appeal to "protect the plaintiff."

Today he received a phone call telling him that he could either come into the station and turn himself in, or he would be arrested and charged with a misdemeanor and fined $75.

I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I must have been wrong.

Stay tuned.

I just got off the phone with McHenry County. They have to approve the warrant before it's issued. The lady I spoke to didn't have the record pertaining to the warrant yet. I was told to call back in two hours at which time she will tell me who filed the complaint.

I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything

Yea, let the non-resident from Canada who assaults a resident on video in the board room get off, but arrest an honorable vietnam vet for wearing a t-shirt. Nice.

No the board meeting was on a Thursday night and the PD showed up at his house on Tuesday morning.

This is BS! Just because this man stands up for himself and what he believes in he gets arrested? I could see if he actually threatened the board members some how but by sitting in the front row? Maybe the VOIL should post a sign stating that those who sit front row center may be liable for detainment at the PD. I bet the weasels are all reading this with smug smiles on their faces thinking, "Now we got them; we really taught them a lesson this time." Little do they know that karma is soon going catch up and bite all of them HARD!

P.S.
Is it posted anywhere, (in the Village Hall, Newsletter, Agenda, etc.) that states a dress code by all who attend the meetings, village official or resident?

The latest news on Greg's warrant is that it wasn't filed in either Lake or McHenry Counties. My source tells me that a misdemeanor warrant can be issued by the arresting officer. My source also said, "Good luck getting a disorderly conduct for a T-shirt. Now the lawsuits will start piling up."

Anonymous said...

So let me understand this

Debbie Hermann makes faces at Greg K.
Debbie uses her authoritative powers calls the police and files a "I am so scared because Greg is sitting in the front row". She calls the police and they stop over to her house and uses her power for harassing Greg with a disorderly conduct and a fine. Doesn't cost her a dime.

Now Greg wants to go after her for making faces at him (you have all witnessed those funny faces she makes) he can go to the PD and ask that she be arrested for making funny faces and scaring him and they will laugh at him or he can go to an attorney and file with the lawyer and shell out big bucks. Now is not this abuse of power?

Is not the Hermanator abusing her power? will Greg ever get Farmer's insurance?

Lori & Johnny said...

Greg sent me a photo of his USMC T-shirt and it is published on Johnny & Lori blog site. You can also view numerous videos with Greg sitting in the front row at www.cbgil.com. At no time did we see any board member frightened.

This clearly shows if anyone, I mean anyone, including a board member that questions Hyde, Herrmann or Garling actions will be victimized. They have done it to local businesses; they tried intimidating Wargaski and Schall. They do not allow Ponio to see vital information before a vote and now they go after a United States Veteran!

I notified the Veteran’s and they are behind Greg 100%. This board’s misuse of power has gone too far. Numerous other Hillbillies have contacted all news media. Disorderly Conduct! My ASS!

Hope all goes in good health with this gentleman and I will try to rally in anyway to make sure more people know what’s really happening in Island Lake.

NEWSFLASH! THIS JUST IN!!!!

GREG KATCHKA (The Carpenter) TOLD TO SURRENDER TO POLICE OR BE ARRESTED FOR DISORDERLY CONDUCT!

Thanks to JOHNNY and the rest of the hillbilly network, we've just heard that Greg has been ordered to surrender to the police department on a disorderly conduct charge, stemming from Herrmann's fright from his having shown up at a past Board meeting.

This is apparently in regards to the original complaint, and not a result of his subsequent attendance.

I can understand a state's attorney delaying an opinion on whether or not to press charges on some infraction. But when was it you remember hearing about a police department waiting WEEKS before arresting someone on a charge? If Greg posed such a clear and present danger to society, why has the police department waited so long for an arrest?

Johnny thinks it might be due to Greg's FOI request on his original incident report, when the PD pressed him for a search of his home without a warrant.

Sound familiar? Everything's over and done with, gee, just a misunderstanding an' all. Then issue a FOI request, and then - WHAM! - GOTCHA!

Boycott Island Lake alltogether and don't pay your water bill - put them OUT OF BUSINESS. Send your water bill money for a defense fund for Greg so he can slap a lawsuit against them.

Make some damn noise here people and DON'T PAY YOUR WATER BILL - they can't shut us all off and it will shut down that board in a freakin hurry.

How dare them ?? Is there a board meeting this week - there better be hundred of protestors there!!!

This is an outrage !!!!

I'll take it even one step further - refuse to pay your water bill until Hyde, Herrmann, Garling and Versigllio resign.

If you look back on the blog, you'll see several postings after the police first went and paid Greg a visit.

I'll say it again, I was at that meeting. There was a F.D. rep. there as well, that had a RADIO. He walked past me twice to go in the hallway to respond to those calls. There was nothing stopping any person in that room to approach this F.D. rep. to ask him to call in an officer.
Greg stood up during public time, asked Tappendorf how long it took her to find her "mistake" in stating the "majority vote" at the special zoning meeting, and how much she charged the village to find her "mistake". She never answered because Hyde quickly saved this damsel in distress and answered for her.
Greg at no time appeared threatning in voice, gesture or demeanor. He asked his question in a polite manner. It was Hyde and Tappendorf that were rude to HIM.
I would swear to this in court.

Respect is Earned said...

I was horrified when this issue first started. The fact that police were sent to Greg's house to begin with was completely out of line. Now they are pressing charges? After he has FULLY CO-OPERATED, even when the police did NOT have a warrant?!?! I AM ASHAMED TO BE AN ISLAND LAKE RESIDENT TODAY!

I watched the tape of the alleged incident, not one person seems threatened (Laurie I hope you have forwarded a copy of that tape to Greg, it will certainly prove his innocence in court). The only thing I saw was a frustrated resident voicing his concerns. The board members showed no reaction other than the usual smug, self satisfied, superior or bored expressions. Rocking in their chairs comfy as can be.

I'll tell you who I feel threatened by- the Village Board (minus Ponio and Saville of course). The majority of the Misconduct I see going on in this village is that of our illustrious Mayor and his posse. I think we can all agree that they have the market cornered when it comes to misconduct!

Can we set up a fund to help Greg fight this and maybe even file a harrasment suit of his own? I'm serious, just tell me where to send the money for the Greg Kachka defense fund!

Thank you, Cal Skinner for placing Island Lake on the map. I would like to note that one of the board members is Democrat Rich Garling vowing to represent not only Island Lake but the 52nd District.

During the last Village of Island Lake board meeting, Garling self proclaimed himself as the Chairman “Running” a slip of tongue, the Island Lake Police Department. I never saw an official vote on his new title. Mr. Garling ran his previous campaign and prior to this, was Mayor Hyde’s campaign manager.

Will an incident such as this be commonplace if he happened to surpass Mark Beaubien in the next election? We still haven’t heard the verdict in Garling’s future however if he happens to prevail the first obstacle, there will be many others he will face before one vote is cast.

Harassment and intimidation is a routine occurrence the current Hyde Administration uses too avoid answering questions the residents have. We know of a couple legal debacles the village currently have on their plate and undoubtedly another is just on the horizon. Who knows who really is behind this, Ancel Glink legal firm to find another opportunity to charge more billable hours or Hyde becoming so frustrated that his last resort is to flex his last dying breath as a Mayor. In either case, they are taking the entire town down financially and spiritually.

We may not be able to control Hyde, Herrmann and Garling in our financial woes however they will never take our sprit away from us. Hillbillies we may be but we stick together for better or for worse.

Just a thought ….. Is this a test for Sergeant Sciarrone? Notice Garling is still looking for a Chief. Are they trying to set up Sciarrone to fail? I will not believe the Police are behind this. They have a direct order and they have to follow through. The majority of the Police force are veterans of the United States Military.

This is real Mayor Hyde, just like you started crap on Amrich and Becker, you can not top the ball rolling now. Watch out for that karma Mayor Hyde.

If this is all over a t-shirt, it would be interesting to find out the types of shirts any young adults wear in the household of the person who filed the complaint. They can have some off the wall & offensive sayings on them. How pleased would they be if someone had their kid arrested? Or if this was over him pointing his finger in a threatening way, I've seen people who tend to point with their middle fingers. Would this be flipping someone off? How lame this person is for doing this to Greg. It's pathetic.

Watch, this Thursday’s meeting there will be an agenda item demanding Greg Katchka to formally apologize the board for wearing a T-Shirt in the village hall.

Greg will probably be punished to the full extent of the law yet Willie Kootstra gets off for assaulting a resident in the board room. Once again, in order to live in Island Lake we have to bow to the board.

I wonder what Farmers Insurance would have to say about their employee. She probably told them that she is a well liked, powerful woman in Island Lake who can get the job done. Look at what she has done to their name.

Does anyone remember the movie Wag the Dog with Dustin Hoffman? We now know that a public official can have a resident arrested for any made up reason, but can a resident have a public official arrested because of the same? If so I think we should ALL file complaints to the ILPD for the fear and intimidation Ms. Herrmann has shown us. I for one feel very threatened by the faces she gives me when I attend meetings. How do I know that she isn't planning on doing something to me or my family.

Watch The Video -

So, I had to watch the video AGAIN (god, does crap ever die in the town?), just so I could be sure and righteous in my defense of Greg.

Pardon me, Greg, I mean no offense, but it seems to me that your address to the Board and Tappendorf was about as threating as the character Milton Waddams (who kept trying to get back his red stapler), played by Stephen Root, in the movie "Office Space".

Greg's appearance is at 1:16 remaining on the tape. He does use a pointing hand gesture, pointing up in the air in order to receive recognition to speak only, as any of us can clearly recognize, and a gesture any of us would use. Kind of, "Point of Order." Then, he gestures forward to Tappendorf with an open hand, which rolls over into possibly a brief downward point, then the balance of his discourse is with rolling and chopping hand gestures and holding, stroking his chin. Gee, gang signs, maybe, but I don't see an emphatic point in the bunch, much less gun gestures.

His spoken commentary is much more polite, less forceful and less opinionated than the gentleman before him that referred to his own perceptions of watching Hyde and company in action as making him "nauseous".

Herrmann the Munster's response is to look over at Tappendorf as he addresses her, then she continues on shuffling and arranging her papers with a downward glance from then on.

Could it be someone other than Munster? Perhaps Garling or even Tappendorf? Again, no visual clues from them or anyone else showing distress.

We'd all LOOOOOVVVEEE to find out who it is as soon as possible!

If Greg wasn't read miranda, and no warrant was served to him, this could get ugly for the village.
Greg now needs a lawyer, and a good one.
It a warrant and a complaint was done, the accuser(s)
will be listed

Then to further add insult to injury (to the village) the whole meeting was video taped, If a judge sees nothing legally offensive, he has a lawsuit available to him, and it could be big.
******
A friend of mine was arrested for a false charge, about 3+ years ago. He didn't resist but was thrown to the ground, and cuffed, Then they peppered him while laying on the ground in cuffs.
The long and short of it, was he tried sueing the village, and after over a year of police harrassment
, he put his house up for sale and moved.
Haven't seen him since, and YES this happened in our lovely town.

SHIRT, GESTURES LEAD TO TROUBLE FOR VETERAN

By Corrinne Hess | Daily Herald

A Vietnam veteran is in hot water with Island Lake officials over his gestures and choice of clothing during a board meeting last month.

Greg Kachka, 60, faces a pair of misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges after Trustee Debbie Herrmann and Village Clerk Christy Kaczmarek complained they felt threatened by his actions.

Kachka, of 3221 Hyacinth Terrace, said the trouble started March 13 when he questioned the board's legal fees while wearing a T-shirt with a picture of a Marine Corps sniper and the words, "Don't Move. If You Run, You'll Only Die Tired."

But police said the charges have less to do with the T-shirt.

"It is what he was doing with his right hand," Sgt. Anthony Sciarrone said. "Both of our complainants stated he made gestures where he had his index finger and thumb in a fashion portraying a handgun."

Sciarrone said police have a picture of Kachka making the gesture, taken from the board meeting videotape.

"I would not have signed a complaint if I did not feel just cause to do so," Herrmann said. "We've got a job to do up there and we shouldn't have to worry about residents being adverse to what we are doing."

Kaczmarek could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Kachka said he first realized he was in trouble four days after the board meeting when a police officer knocked on his door.

"I wasn't going to let him in, but we talked on the porch and he was a nice guy," Kachka said. "I let him in and showed him the T-shirt. He took a picture of it. A few days later I tried getting the police report but they refused, saying I was still under criminal investigation."

Kachka served in the Marines from 1966 to 1970 and is 70 percent disabled from injuries suffered in Vietnam. He said he has worn the shirt to other village meetings.

"I decided to voice my concerns and start asking questions and they didn't like it," he said. "I served my time and if anyone has a right to wear this shirt it's me."

Kachka said he bought the shirt from an Internet site where he frequently purchases clothing.

As far as making a violent gesture, Kachka said, Herrmann made a face at him when he sat down, so he pointed at her.

"I don't remember exactly how it was, but I didn't intentionally make an obscene gesture," he said. "I was just (ticked) off she was making faces at me."

Kachka said a police officer called him Monday and said he would be arrested for disorderly conduct if he didn't turn himself in and pay a $75 bond.

"I can't believe these people are doing this to me," he said. "This is America."

Sciarrone said Tuesday Kachka had refused to turn himself in, so officers will obtain a warrant for his arrest and pick him up within the next day.

"It is what he was doing with his right hand," Sgt. Anthony Sciarrone said.

The nuns told me I'd go to hell because of what I do with my right hand.

You mean to tell me that I'd go to jail, too?

Or perhaps Christy and Herrmann the Munster would enjoy that show?

Two simple things we can do immediately:

1) Drive through the parking lot at Herrmann's insurance office in the Westridge Shopping Center every time you drive by that way and lean on the horn as you go by. Let her know we're watching and disagree.

2) I know it's trite, but we can show up at the meeting on Thursday at 7:30 PM, and simply appear in the crowd with our lips taped shut. No one need speak and get arrested, but it gets the point across. It's a light agenda that evening.
